DAVE MONOLITH live (Rephlex, WéMè Records / UK)

DAVE MONOLITH
Monolith aka David Paul Barnard lives in the Wiltshire countryside. His musical interest developed at an early age. These interests later progressed to DJing with cassette decks and over dubbing sounds that became his first attempt at music production.
“I only make individual tracks in different styles so ultimately the record had to be compiled into a coherent selection of music. I think this has been done successfully by Rephlex. I make the music I want to hear. I enjoy it more than any other music, this drives me to make more. It’s not down to arrogance because I really don’t expect anyone else to like it. I get a wicked feeling when I make music. I make music with loads of different things. If I didn’t have one thing to make music I could probably make music just as good with something else. For me making a good track comes from the person.
The common debate in recent years with Analogue vs Digital, Hardware vs Software, is so cheesy to talk about/hear about/read about, I think talking about the process is much more relevant, but that is my personal preference. What does the future hold? I have no idea but I would love to be involved. So much has been done, and I think all we can do is make a music that captures the imagination. My ambition is to make my next best track, to keep doing what I want to do, to travel to different places, and to be able to draw a crowd every now and then. I hope I can inspire people as I have been inspired by others myself, to bring other individuals as much enjoyment as my music brings me. The strongest elements of my tracks often have a disjointed pop sensibility, this is something I aim for.”

MATTIAS FRIDELL (Gynoid Audio, AFFIN, Sonntag Morgen, Labrynth, SPACE / SWE)

MATTIAS FRIDELL
Swedish DJ/producer Mattias Fridell has been actively involved in the techno scene since the 1990s, inspired early on by EDM and the developing techno movement in Sweden. For nearly a decade he’s released quality techno and other forms of electronic dance music, working along the way with a growing number of respected labels and artists. Along the way he’s salvaged everything from hard techno to classic Detroit-inspired beats, down to a minimalistic approach as well as the work that defines his sound today: the dark, deep, industrial tones and rich, deep dubby flavours—with lots of erosion and a smattering of dirt. Working against the trends, but assimilating slices he likes along the way, Fridell will carry on producing his unique, innovative vibes.

After the night its end, FFF continued to promote breakcore & jungle on the monthly Wreck Havoc nights which never officially stopped and still pop up once in a while.

PINK TWINS A/V live

PINK TWINS
Pink Twins is a duo of visual artists and electronic musicians, brothers Juha and Vesa Vehviläinen, based in Helsinki, Finland. Active as Pink Twins since 1997, Pink Twins have shown their works in exhibitions and festivals on all continents and performed audiovisual live shows through Europe, Americas, Asia and Australia.
Pink Twins’ videos work on the crossing of visual art and music. Their computer-treated imagery focus on human perception, its functionality and limits. Pink Twins build a tissue of connections between their sound work and their visual work, attempting to intimately join mundane fragments usually disjoint. They work from fragments of images, sounds and sensations which our daily life is subjected to and break them down into small particles to reunite them once again in audacious chaotic constructions.
For their live performances Pink Twins incorporate live electronic music and a live mix of video works. The music of Pink Twins is based on live sound processing of concrete and electronic sounds, noises and musical elements. The mix of live sound and video projections creates a hyperactive, constantly changing and extremely detailed experience of time and space.

DKSTR live (Harmönia, Raha & Tunteet)

DKSTR live (Harmönia, Raha & Tunteet)
Oxymoronic music that manages to sound slow and crippled but at the same time extremely groovy, rough and minimalistic while still being vividly melodic, violently electronic and painfully humane at heart. Soundscapes that are playful at times, but never humoristic.
The thing that separates DKSTR’s take on modern R&B from the rest of the world lies somehow in his Finno-Ugric mentality. While the rhythmical structures of his Anglo American colleagues simulate the act of ridin’ or grindin’, DKSTR’s style resembles more cross-country skiing or wading through a wet marsh.
Genius or retarded?
Probably both.
Sincerely yours,

KONEKONEKONE live
Konekonekone throws itself into the depths of electronic soundscapes. Their drones offer listeners meditative experiences while their sporadic electro nuances are liable to cause head nodding. Konekonekone makes music on modular synthesisers and every performance is built around improvisation. Sounds are constructed on the spot in front of the audience, thus every performance is a riddle even to the operators of the machines.
Konekonekone was formed in 2012 to fill a certain vacuum both in the hearts of the band members and in the breadth of electronic music on offer. The group consists of sound wizards Jesse Juup, Markus Kaunismäki and Ossi Hätönen from Turku, Finland in Europe. All members have been passionate about analogue sound synthesis for a couple of decades; surfing sine waves, grinding down the jagged the corners of square waves, scraping saw waves and investigating the inner essence of the triangle wave. This passion has led to all members becoming closely involved in creating electronic compositions and soundscapes. Homemade instruments are strongly represented in Konekonekone.
